Spotify has launched new DJ mixes
Spotify has added DJ mixes to its streaming platform, allowing DJs to add full-length mixes to the service. Initially, the mixes are launching in eight territories, including UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, Japan, Indonesia, the Philippines, Australia and New Zealand.
Arturia launches new MiniFuse soundcard range
Arturia has launched a new series of audio interfaces called MiniFuse. The new cards are designed with portability and affordability in mind, starting with the MiniFuse 1 which costs €99 and has one combi-jack input and two outs for each speaker. It also features phantom power, volume control and a headphone jack and knob.
Serato DJ Pro now supports CDJ-3000s
Serato DJ Pro now supports Pioneer DJ’s CDJ-3000 players in HID mode. That means you can plug them straight into your laptop via USB and Serato will automatically pick them up and map controls to the flagship new player. The 3000s will pull through all the information from the relevant deck including the waveform, track title and time and bpm and all assigned cue points will be pulled through to the eight cue buttons.

Software company Vochlea has released Dubler 2, the next version of the award-winning voice-to-MIDI standalone app that lets you realistically convert your voice to MIDI notes and drum patterns in real-time. Used by artists like Novelist and Portrait XO, the new version lets you use any microphone you wish, and can be calibrated to recognise your voice more accurately.
Ableton add Apple M1 chip support in Live 11.1 beta
Ableton has updated Live to version 11.1 and with it, have added support for Apple’s new Silicon M1 chips. The new chips were announced in 2020 and while they give Apple’s new computers significantly more power and performance due to being designed by Apple themselves, it meant that the majority of audio apps needed to be re-coded for the new chip.
Since then, we’ve seen DJ software like Serato and Traktor announce updates, but most DAWs – apart from Apple’s own Logic Pro – have been slow on the uptake, most likely due to the complexities under the hood.
UK govt refers major labels to competition committee following streaming enquiry
The UK government has recommended the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) that it consider an investigation into the UK’s leading major labels – Sony, Warner and Universal Music. It’s also recommended the CMA investigate YouTube’s dominance in the streaming market.

SoundCloud has said that artists have received up to a 500% increase in royalty payments from its new “fan-powered” royalty rate it introduced earlier this year.
