Berlin label FIGURE will release the second edition of its ‘Open Space’ ambient compilation series this month. Listen to Can Love Be A Synth’s contribution, ‘Marzipan’, below.
Following last year’s first edition, which found various artists exploring different branches of ambient electronic music, this second outing offers 14 brand new tracks. Contributions to ‘Open Space Volume 2’ come from artists including KMRU, Len Faki, Max Cooper, Laraaji and Earthen Sea.
KMRU and Echium have collaborated on a new album, ‘Peripheral’. Check it out below.
The eight-track experimental ambient release was produced between the artist’s respective homes in Nairobi and Manchester, with the artists combining their respective specialisms into what KMRU has described as a “psychic collaboration”.
KMRU, who is now based in Berlin, folds his organic field recording manipulations and textured electronics into Echium’s sparse and frosty dub techno atmospheres. Echium also created the album’s abstract artwork.
KHX05 has shared a collection of remixes from their ‘BLXCK KXT’ EP on Suzi Analogue’s Never Normal Records. Check it out below.
‘BLXCK KXT REMIX EP’ features contributions from Iron Dylan, Awful Records’ LORD NARF, House of Labeija’s Rozay Labeija, GHOZT and Never Normal/Teklife affiliate Heavee. Each of the five remixers puts their own distinctive spin on KHX05's (pronounced Chaos) raw and experimental rap tracks, in which their lyrics tell stories of their trans experience.
London label CHINABOT celebrates its fourth anniversary this month with the release of ‘Tetra Hysteria Manifesto’, a 14-track compilation of experimental electronic music by artists from across Asia.
