After a quarter of a century in drum & bass, Samurai Music boss Presha will finally release his debut EP on 29th October. Check out the EP’s closer, ‘The Spell’, below. 

Drum & bass is firing on all cylinders over in the States right now, and leading the way for the darker side of the genre is Seattle-based Homemade Weapons.

Originally from Baltimore, Andre Delgado has earned respect the world over for his signature audio assaults. Combining a heavy dungeon-like low-end (think: Loxy, Clarity) with ear-splitting breakbeat explosions (see: Gremlinz, Skitty), he manages to ride the wave between desolate soundscape and wall of noise.

Samurai Horo, the experimental offshoot of Presha's Samurai Music, relaunches next month with new releases from regulars ASC and Ancestral Voices.

Having established itself as worlds apart from the drum & bass of its parent label through a catalogue of highly eclectic ambient, grey area, electronica and more, Horo will drop the 'Samurai' part of its name, becoming a fully fledged label in its own right.

US drum & bass has gone from strength to strength in recent years (eyes out for our American d&b feature in the latest print magazine!), with Seattle, above all, becoming a breeding ground for top notch producers. Following a slew of killer releases, one of the city's finest — Homemade Weapons — is ready to drop his debut album via Presha's forward-thinking Samurai Music imprint.

Toyko Prose, protégé to Samurai Music head honcho DJ Presha, has announced his debut album 'Presence', to be released through his home label's Samurai Red Seal imprint.
Out August 4^th, 'Presence' showcases both the solo and collaborative talents of the New Zealander, with a tracklist that features some of today's top drum & bass talent, including Lenzman, Synkro, DRS and Riya.
