Pioneer DJ has made their mix recording and streaming app DJM-REC free for 90 days. The original trial period of 30 days has been extended to 90 and users who exhausted their trial already have had their limit reset, so can use the app again for free.
Pioneer DJ has been sold by owners KKR equity firm to Japanese company Noritsu for $606 million. The sale comes off the back of a change of corporation name last year to AlphaTheta, when Pioneer DJ said: “Our brands and brand names, including Pioneer DJ, will not be affected. We’re updating our corporate name to better reflect our values and vision. The change is not related to any merger, sale, or reorganization.”
Pioneer DJ have announced a new flagship mixer – the DJM-V10. Featuring six channels, new FX and filters, a compressor on every channel, the ability to reroute effects internally and a new isolator three-band master EQ. Speaking of EQ, the V10 features four-band EQ, similar to that of the Allen & Heath Xone range, doubling up on the mid with a Mid-Lo and Mid-Hi band per channel.
Pioneer DJ have announced a new all-in-one unit the XDJ-XZ. The new unit is their flagship all-in-one, with all the features you'd expect taken from the DJM900nxs2 mixer, including all the Color FX and 14 Beat FX, as well as a new three-band EQ on the master channel, ideal for mobile DJs playing in less-than-ideal acoustic spaces. There are four channels in total, allowing users to add two sources on top of the two in-built channels.
Pioneer DJ have launched a new pad-based controller for use with both rekordbox DJ and Serato DJ. Featuring 32 backlit coloured LED pads, the DDJ-XP2 can control everything from cue points to sample triggering and loops, as well as FX using the Slide FX strip that activates as soon as it's touched.
Transport options can also be assigned to the pads so you can play, stop and cue directly from the unit. There's also a new option where you can instantly mute a deck and reload from a hot cue, right from the pads. Find out more in the video below. The new unit will cost £299.
Pioneer DJ have just unveiled the brand-new addition to their DDJ controller family, the Pioneer DJ DDJ-1000SRT, and prior to its release, Point Blank were given one of the consoles to test out and explore the new features. Aside from the Serato-compatible controller’s stylish LCD jog wheel displays, heavy-weight CDJ plates and Pioneer DJ standard effects controls, it has a great deal to offer. The DDJ-1000SRT includes a variety of tactile features which are both advantageous and incredibly fun to use such as the Beat Jump function, auto key matching and Serato Sampler to name a few.
Pioneer DJ's have added a new Serato controller to their range in the form of the DDJ-1000SRT. Essentially the same format as the previously announced DDJ-1000, it features the fancy full-size CDJ2000-style jogs with the new full-colour screen featuring artwork and track information. Below, there's eight coloured pads per deck that can control everything from cue points to FX and loops.
Beatport have brought their new LINK DJ streaming system to Pioneer DJ's rekordbox dj software. The streaming capabilities allow users to stream Beatport's entire catalogue of over six million tracks directly into DJ software. Having already announced the service for other software, rekordbox dj is the first program to allow users to store up to 100 tracks offline in a 'locker', to remove the risk of potential internet connectivity issues.
Pioneer is now allowing DJs to clear rights for the DJ mixes they record through its iOS app DJM-REC.
Users will be able to clear the mixes within the app meaning that they can then be uploaded to major streaming services. The move comes as a result a deal that Pioneer has made with Dubset, a rights management company. Any mixes recorded within the DJM-REC will automatically be submitted to Dubset through the app who will then analyse it for copyright clearance.
