Pioneer DJ has launched a new series of near-field DJ and studio monitors, the VM range. The VM comes in three sizes: five-inch cone, seven-inch cone and eight-inch cone and all three sizes come with DSP technology to ‘tune’ the speaker to the space that they’re placed in. They’re designed to be used for both DJ monitoring at home when either practising, preparing your set and live streaming – where the speakers can be tuned to have more of a ‘hyped’ sound – and for use in the studio where you can switch the frequency response back to flat.

DJ EZ has dropped a new video with Pioneer DJ showcasing some of the new features of the new flagship CDJ-3000s. Throughout the four-minute video, EZ shows off some of his trademark mixing and performance skills including rapid cueing, creating new rhythms by triggering samples on the new horizontal hot cue buttons, using the white noise generator on the DJM-900 mixer to emulate scratching and pitching sounds up and down to create a new melody using the pitch fader. 

Pioneer DJ has announced a new series of updates that means their products will work with macOS Big Sur, Apple’s latest operating system. On an update on their website, the DJ giants revealed a list of products that will work with the new OS, including CDJ-3000, DJM-900nxs2 and their DDJ series of controllers. Some products will require an updated driver, which you can download here. 

Pioneer DJ has launched a new two-channel battle mixer, the DJM-S7. The mixer is a more affordable version of the popular S9 mixer, and features the same two FX levers, eight performance pads per channel with hot cue, sampler, and more, Magvel fader pro crossfader, three-band EQ and filter per channel and some new features including Bluetooth input so send loops and samples to the mixer from your mobile device and Loop MIDI mode that lets you control samples and loops from the FX levers.

Recording mixes at home is notoriously tough. Trying to re-create the vibe of the club with no crowd – it usually leads to over-doing it on the FX, or mixing out too early just for something to do, and messing up the transition. Admit it, you’ve done it. A YouTube user called TheRasteri has the solution – he’s has hacked a Pioneer DJ XDJ-R2 to run the classic videogame DOOM. In the video, the user can be seen plugging a USB stick into the R2, as well as a keyboard into the second USB port and loading the game onto the touchscreen. 

Pioneer DJ has announced a new version of its flagship V10 mixer – the DJM-V10-LF. There are two main differences with the LF and the first is the most obvious – there’s no crossfader.

The channel faders are extended to 60mm to take advantage of the extra space from removing the crossfader and Pioneer DJ has also added an extra fader curve for extra detail and more subtle control, depending on your preference.

The rest of the mixer is the same as the original V10, which we previewed in the video below. It costs £3,089 plus VAT.

Pioneer DJ has announced a new controller – the DDJ-FLX6. The new unit is designed to control both rekordbox dj and Serato, and as well as adopting a more stripped back grey and black style, it introduces a new Merge FX function, a single knob that can control up to four FX simultaneously. These FX can be determined by the user in a new Merge FX menu.
