Floating Points

Double Door in Chicago has been forced to shut its door after 23 years in business. 

Located on Milwaukee Avenue in the Windy City, the much-loved club was due to host Floating Points in April and had previously hosted legendary rock acts including The Rolling Stones, Kanye West and Kings of Leon.

Staff were reportedly given just 24 hours to vacate the building after being locked out of the club for weeks before the official closure was announced. 

Farr Festival will return for its eighth round in 2017, running from 13th to 15th July at Bygrave Woods in Hertfordshire — roughly 40 minutes outside of London.

The first wave of acts announced include Floating Points, Omar-S, Leon Vynehall and Honey Dijon, alongside Kornel Kovaks, Sassy J, Young Marco, Suzanne Kraft and Jayda. 

The festival is also set to host a new live-focused stage this year, with Norwegian disco don Todd Terje and German tech-house specialists Booka Shade both set to perform. 

Dekmantel festival is set to kick off at Amsterdame Bos this year, running from 2nd through 6th August 2017.

The first names for the event have been announced via a cryptic video message, which was uploaded to the Dutch festival’s channels yesterday evening.

Headliners include Floating Points, Helena Hauff, Motor City Drum Ensemble, DJ Nobu and Joy Orbison, while Irish duo Bicep are implied with the words “Feel my [Bodypart]”. Palms Trax, Dopplereffekt, Larry Heard, Vakula and Robert Hood are also hinted at in the video.

Don Buchla, the pioneering inventor widely accepted to be the first person to develop a working modular synth, has died at the age of 79. His son, Ezra, has confirmed that he died from complications following his battle with cancer.

A young man has died after a fire broke out at Glastonbury Festival’s Worthy Farm site on Monday evening (20th June).

The man has not yet been named, but is thought to be in his 20s. Police confirmed he died from severe burns after being airlifted to hospital, whilst local reports suggest the blaze was the result of a petrol spill in the Green Fields area of the Glastonbury site.
