Moscoman is a busy man. He's just spun at a huge party at Village Underground in London last week, alongside his DJ and production pal Roman Flugel, and is set to play at much-loved Glasgow rave cave Stereo in Scotland this Friday.
When he's not DJing and touring the globe, he's also running his acclaimed imprint, Disco Halal — it's home to Middle Eastern-tinted leftfield disco and house by artists such as Red Axes, Naduve and Autarkic.
The next release to pop up on the label is a split EP between Moscoman, Red Axes and Krikor, and comes with a bonus remix from Flugel that's currently on free download — score! 'Subaru Pesha' is out now via Oye Records.
To celebrate what's been an epic year for the Israeli producer, we sat down with Moscoman in London recently, to find out his top five release from Disco Halal thus far — listen to each of his favourites below.
LE GAZ QUI FAIT RIRE (ACID ARAB EDIT)’ ACID ARAB RELEASED: 15/03/15 "The track that started it all. I remember when the Acid Arab guys sent it to me to play a couple of years back, I always thought this was a killer and I wished that I or somebody would put it out on vinyl. I picked up the gauntlet. This great rework being a Japanese production of Lebanese music — something I didn't expect to hear and the edit is exactly what the original needed."
‘VANDRE’ CARROT GREEN & SELVAGEM RELEASED: 01/03/16 "Writing these words in a hotel in Brazil — this record was a window to the current Brazilian electronic scene. These three guys are rocking it and Rio is truly an amazing city, where people dig cool, emotional electronic music. I heard this one, and instantly i knew it was going be a very special record — and it is."
‘ASI KETA GA’ AUTARKIC RELEASED: 23/5/16 "Autarkic was a diamond in a rough when I first heard his productions, but from that very first edit he released with us all the way through to this mini LP, you can hear the true talent of this dude. Autarkic is one of the more interesting guys I've ever heard, and I'm always thrilled with every tune he sends our way."
‘THE DYNAMIC ENERGY’ TCP RELEASED: 30/6/16 "Heard this tune first on YouTube through some random play. I downloaded it, edited it , and sent it to everybody. I love this record so much but buying the original press was so expensive. I tried to make it cheaper and more approachable because it’s a really good musical piece. It took him a year to make it and it was worth it. He is still making music and sending it over to me. Maybe we should release some more…"
‘READY SET GO’ NADUVE RELEASED: 16/8/16 "This record is ahead of its time. Naduve is a gentle giant, representing my Tel Aviv crew. One of the many talents growing in the sun burnt, tahini soaked city. This tune was also remixed by Marius from Coma. He is simply brilliant. I can't even put my finger on why that is. I'm sure that when I'll listen to it in 12 months I will understand it better. Naduve, when is your new stuff coming?"
