After several collaborations with International Chrome boss Jensen Interceptor, Assembler Code (Brendan Zacharias) goes it alone on his debut solo EP. ‘HAL’s Machine Tool’ has thumping 808 kicks and brittle, overdriven snares and FX, a juddering bassline interjecting over mysterious synth segments. The relentless ‘Mental Escape’ is especially good, its acid bleeps coasting on arpeggiated basslines and pile-driving drums. ‘Simulant’ has a pleasingly dark EBM vibe, while 'Type 2', featuring Jensen, is intense dancefloor gear to build a sweat to. Killer.
