While the Ibiza opening parties are a more distributed affair than they once were – featuring many ‘soft’ openings early in May – it’s the week of the International Music Summit (IMS) when things really get going. While IMS runs from 23rd-25th May, the island comes alive for the full week surrounding the conference. We’ve collated a day-by-day guide to the best parties from Monday through to Sunday...
Monday 20th May
Start the week as you mean to go on with Ibiza’s most infamous party. The Circoloco crew kick start their season at DC-10 with more than 20 artists from across the house and techno spectrum. Highlights include Seth Troxler, Peggy Gou, Kerri Chandler, Midland and The Black Madonna.
Tuesday 21st May
Resurgent San Antonio superclub Eden open their doors for the season on Tuesday 21st May with party starters Art Department, David Squillace, Matthias Tanzmann and more in attendance.
Wednesday 22nd May
Pacha hosts the official IMS opening party on Wednesday 22nd May. The line up is under-wraps for now, but expect the club to be awash with industry faces all night long.
Thursday 23rd May
Marco Carola’s move from Amnesia to Pacha may have put the two clubs into a legal wrangle, but the Italian techno star has confirmed in an Instagram post that the show will go on. His debut at Pacha on Thursday 23rd May also features Loco Dice and Jesse Calosso.
Friday 24th May
The showcase event of IMS takes place at the UNESCO World Heritage site of Dalt Vila. The outdoor party features back-to-back performances from Adam Beyer & Ida Engberg, Joseph Capriati & Pete Tong, Luciano & David Morales, Agoria & Sophie and Nicole Moudaber back-to-back with Palestinian DJ SAMA. Belgium techno star Charlotte de Witte bucks the B2B trend with a solo performance to close off the night.
Saturday 25th May
Cocoon celebrate 20 years of Ibiza anarchy with an all-day outdoor showcase at Ushuaïa Ibiza. Taking place on Saturday 25th May and featuring an eagerly anticipated live set from Underworld, a DJ set from label boss Sven Vath plus Cocoon regulars Matthias Tanzmann and Dana Ruh B2B André Galluzzi.
Later that night, carnival party starters Elrow kick off their Amnesia season with Basement Jaxx (DJ Set), Joris Voorn and De La Swing on the Terrace. Meanwhile Kölsch is at the controls all night long in the ‘Elrow City’ club room.
Sunday 26th May
Closing off the opening weekend at Hi Ibiza, disco dons Glitterbox take control for their 2019 opening fiesta, soundtracked by Masters at Work, Dimitri From Paris, Purple Disco Machine and boss-man Simon Dunmore. The party also features a live PA from house music vocal supremo Barbara Tucker and a set from Ibiza original DJ Pippi.
