A DJ set at a festival can really put a new DJ on the map. Gottwood festival in Wales know this, and so they are running a DJ competition to offer up and coming jocks a place on the line-up alongside some of the the biggest names in the underground scene — such as Craig Richards (above).
One lucky winner will claim the grand prize of a prime-time set, a Gottwood Presents podcast and a bunch of goodies from the Gottwood and Gottwax family.
Two runners-up will also be selected to play the festival, and will receive tickets for themselves and friends.
To be in with a shot, simply record a 45-90 minute mix and send it to email@example.com in the form of a downloadable streaming link (eg. Soundcloud/Mixcloud). The Gottwood judging panel will cut the mixes down to a final 10, which will then be subject to a public vote via Facebook.
Don't be afraid to experiment, as the Gottwood team have said “eclectic stand-out mixes” will have more of a chance of being selected. Previous winners have included the likes of Eton Messy and Atlas.
The competition closes Monday May 12th at 12pm. All applicants must be based in the UK.
Located deep in the woodlands of Wales, Gottwood festival is now returning for its fifth year. 2014 sees the event take on the Jungle theme, so festival-goers should crack out their wildest outfits for the event that takes place June 19th - 22nd.
The line-up this year includes Applepips boss Appleblim, drum & bass legends Calibre and DJ Die, Fabric legend Craig Richards, Crazy P Soundsystem, Gerd Janson, Artwork, Kris Wadsworth, Gang Colours, Marco Zenker and Session Victim, to name but a few.
