Wiley Goes Electro
The grimester's new direction
His new single for Asylum Records, 'Wearing My Rolex' - out 21st April (digital) and 5th May (physical) - sees him rhyming atop floor-ready electro-house which, since surfacing on promo, has been making it into the playlists of Radio 1 tastemakers like Pete Tong, Zane Lowe, Annie Mac, Jo Whiley and more. Taking its sample cue from East Coast garage classic 'What Would We Do' by DSK, the track is already threatening to be a monster hit.
In the current climate where house/hip-hop fusions are increasingly commonplace (look at Hervé, Switch, Diplo et al), it seems that this could be the next big sound to blow, and with such ludicrous 'new' genre names as electro grime being bandied about, best believe 'Wearing My Rolex' is going to make big noise…
