Not content with regularly smashing his spiritual home on the island most Mondays of the summer, Jamie Jones just couldn’t resist making the decision to take DC10 as his own every Thursday night, with Paradise, a new Hot Creations label night, lasting 13 weeks. Can you blame him, though? One of the men at the helm of arguably the most smouldering property in deep house today, his Midas touch has helped gild so many dancefloor tracks over the past few years, we’d risk an asthma attack if we were to name them all. Naturally a party showcasing Hot Creations, the label he runs alongside Lee Foss, at Ibiza’s most aspirational underground venue, is not being taken lightly.
While initial indications suggest the dirty disco-tech pioneered by the label since its inauguration in 2009 will dominate the weekly event, perhaps surprisingly, styles never before resonated within the terracotta tiles of DC10 will also find a place. Launching on 5th July with Jamie himself, Art Department and Benoit & Sergio alongside resident Richy Ahmed (other residents include Luca C and Rob James), guests already penned are Wolf + Lamb, Maceo Plex, Danny Daze, Miguel Campbell, Soul Clap and Russ Yallop. No shocks there, but some eyebrows may be raised at the sight of Hessle Audio boss Ben UFO, Irish cosmic explorer Space Dimension Controller and Julio Bashmore on the bill; bookings that, while offering a host of DC10 debuts, represent, refreshingly, an embrace of alternative sounds from within the Hot Creations camp. What did Jamie have to say about it?
“I'm super excited to announce our residency in Ibiza this summer, and to be hosting Hot Creations presents Paradise at my favourite club in the world,” he told DJ Mag. “DC10 has been such an important club for me, and to now have my own weekly party there is a dream come true. This is going to be a fantastic summer.”
That, Jamie, is the dictionary definition of an understatement.
